The Augusta University volleyball team defeated USC Aiken in three sets, sweeping their conference rival on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C.

USC Aiken (12-2, 2-1) had only lost one match before facing AU (11-3, 2-0) Tuesday night. This also marks the Pacers’ first home lost of the season.

The Jaguars dominated the match, winning by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-17.

AU took advantage of the Pacers early mistakes in the first set, as the Pacers finished with 12 total errors compared to the Jaguars 5.

The second set was a little more back in forth until the Jaguars went on an 8-3 run at the end of the set and moved ahead two sets to zero going into the third.

The Pacers came out strong in set No. 3, going ahead 4-1 early. The Jags fought back and were too much handle for the Pacers, as AU went on a 13-5 run to close out the set and won the match in dominant fashion.

Senior Kylie Martin led the Jaguars on the offensive side with 10 kills in the match. Senior Alyssa Frazier, who is from Aiken, finished with 7 kills for AU.

Holland Martin, also a senior at AU, led the Jaguars with 21 digs. Senior Samantha Zittrauer led the team with 17 assists.

The Jaguars will have their first game at home in their next match against another conference rival in Flagler College (8-3, 2-0) on Friday, Oct. 1, at Christenberry Fieldhouse at 6 p.m.
