Men’s golf improves on second day of Badger Invitational

The Augusta University men’s golf team was tied for 12th after the second day of the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wis.
Scores in round two were better by one shot by each golfer. The biggest improvement from day one to day two was that of AU freshman CJ Van Wyk, who shot an even-par 72 after shooting 76 the first day.
Sophomore Jack Vajda still turned in a solid scorecard after his day one ace at hole No. 8. Vajda turned in a 74, two-over-par performance, in round two. This was a two-shot improvement from day one, and Vajda was tied for 51st after the second day.
Junior Alex Van Wyk, who was the low golfer for AU on the first day, also turned in a 74, and was tied for 30th place.
Sophomore Wilhelm Berg von Linde shot a 76. Von Linde was two shots better than the opening round and found himself tied for 51st at the end of the second day.
Freshman Gareth Steyn also shot 76. This was a three-shot improvement from round one, and Steyn finished the day tied for 69th place.
AU sophomore Dawson Booth is competing this week as the lone individual for the Jaguars. In day two, Booth shot an even-par round of 72, besting his day one performance of 80. Booth was tied for 59th for the tournament.
As a team, AU finds itself 18-over-par in 12th place. The team above them is Toledo University and the team below them is Coastal Carolina University.
Illinois State led after two rounds at 559, four shots ahead of Sam Houston.
