Two former Augusta State University golfers, Patrick Reed and Henrick Norlander, both qualified and are participating in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

These former Jaguars were both standout golfers at ASU and a part of the 2010 and 2011 national championship teams.

Reed is currently ranked 12th in the world and will replace Bryson Dechambeau on Team USA and compete in his second Olympic games. Dechambeau is unable to compete for team USA due to testing positive for COVID-19.

In 2016, Reed finished 11th overall in the Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro. Reed will be joining Justin Thomas, British Open champion Colin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele on Team USA’s men’s golf team.

Norlander will be competing in the Olympics for the first time in his career. He will be joining Alex Noren on the Swedish team. Norlander is currently ranked 136 in the world golf rankings. He finished in a tie for fifth place at the Barbasol Championship on July 18. That tournament was played in Nicholasville, Ky.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympic golf competition will be held at the Kasumigaseki Country Club, in Saitama, Japan. The men’s golf event will be held from July 29 to August 1.

Norlander will be one of the first to tee off at 6:52 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday, July 28. Reed will follow and tee off at 9:36 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday evening.

Reed won the Masters in 2018, holding off Rickie Fowler and Jordan Speith to capture the green jacket. That win was worth nearly $2 million in prize money for Reed. He and Norlander led Augusta State to those consecutive NCAA Division I men’s golf titles in 2010-2011—two of three in golf for the Jaguars. The other men’s golf title was an individual championship by Broc Everett in May 2018.

Update1: Both Reed and Norlander shot 3 under par for their first round. Sepp Straka of Austria was in first place with an 8-under-par 63. Reed and Norlander were scheduled to tee off Thursday night EDT for the second round ... Update2: Reed shot a 71 in the second round and was at 3 under par, eight shots behind leader Xander Schauffele of the United States. Norlander carded a 73 and is one under par, 10 shots off the lead with 36 holes to play. Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz was second at 10 under par. Update3: Reed finished the tournament tied 22nd at 6 under par. Norlander finished tied 45th at 4 under par. Schauffele won the gold medal, followed by Rory Sabbatini of Slovakia with silver and C.T. Pan of Taiwan with bronze.
