Troyer-led Augusta finishes 24th in nationals

Augusta University’s Hans Troyer finished in the top 100 in the NCAA Division II cross-country championships in Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash., on Friday, Dec. 2.
The Jaguar senior finished 90th to lead AU to a 24th-place finish in the national championships.
Patrick Motes was second for AU in 107th place, followed by Kai Brickey (112th), Avery Jaynes (128th) and Carlos Rodriguez (132nd).
Southeast Regional champion Wingate finished second behind national champion Colorado School of Mines. Colorado Christian was third in the nationals.
CSM’s Dillon Powell was the men’s champion. He ran the 10-kilometer courses in 29 minutes and 28 seconds, and teammate Duncan Fuehne finished third in 29:48.3. Tanner Chada of Grand Valley State was second in 29:47.1.
Wingate’s Scott Nutter was 19th place overall to secure all-America honors. Joshua Chepkesir of UNC Pembroke finished 81st. Wingate’s Cas Kopmels, Oliver Way and Pierre Galbourdin also made all-America.
Runners faced cold, dreary conditions. Race time temperature was 35 degrees with light snow and rain.
