Pulitzer Prize-winning author, historian Meacham to visit Augusta today

Jon Meacham, renowned author, historian and biographer, is set to speak at the 16th annual Interfaith Celebration hosted by the Sacred Heart Cultural Center in Augusta on Jan. 17.
Known as the most diverse interfaith event in the CSRA, the event plans to offer insight on Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Muslims, Religious Humanists, Sikhs, Baha’is and Unitarian Universalists.
The gathering music is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and the service will begin at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public to attend.
For years, the event has been surrounded on the following theme: Keeping the Dream Alive: Why Dr. King’s Message Still Matters.
Meacham, the special guest speaker, has been serving as the Canon Historian of the Washington National Cathedral since Nov. 7, 2021. He is a contributing writer to The New York Times Book Review, a contributing editor to Time magazine and a former editor-in-chief of Newsweek.
Meacham is the author of several New York Times bestsellers, including “And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln and the American Struggle,” “Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power” and “American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House.” He won a Pulitzer Prize for the biography on President Andrew Jackson in 2009.
Meacham is a visiting professor at Vanderbilt University.
