Preston Eats: Say hello to I Heart Mac and Cheese

Preston Eats: Say hello to I Heart Mac and Cheese

By Preston Hall | Staff writer

Mac and cheese is the side dish that goes with every meal at every holiday and even every dinner, but who says it cannot be its own stand-alone dish.

My journey of testing all the best foods and desserts in Augusta, Georgia, led me to the new restaurant I Heart Mac and Cheese.

I tried the Chicken Alfredo Mac and Cheese, and I got it crispy without the pesto.

To be honest, the idea of this place being solely based on the dairy goodness that most of us love had me thinking I would be entering my new favorite restaurant.

Let me tell you, on the initial glance, the mac and cheese came out and looked amazing. The noodles used are the big ones that twirl and soak up all the sauce.

My mac and cheese was good –nothing too crazy about it. I had high hopes for it simply because I love mac and cheese so much. Nothing was wrong with my food at all.

My chicken in my mac and cheese was so tender and full of flavor; it added so much to the overall aspect of the dish. The noodles were cooked just right, as well. They were able to soak up all the sauce, and everything was made to perfection. However, I just did not care for the flavor profile of the sauce.

The meal came in a plastic container with a lid in case you were not able to finish it. Then, you can take it on the go and finish it later.

Even the service I received was good. The lady working at the counter was so nice and worked as quickly as possible, and the restaurant was clean and decorated nicely.

The overall score of the mac and cheese for me would be 7 out of 10. I believe that the other flavors and the other items that are offered would be something I would enjoy more.

I will be back this week to try more of the food, and I know it will be better each time I go.

You will find I Heart Mac and Cheese at 826 Cabela Drive, Suite 5, Augusta, GA, 30909. When you are in the parking lot, look straight ahead and you will see Top Golf and the movie theater.

When you go, try the Chicken Alfredo mac and cheese. Then, email me or stop me, and tell me what you think about it.

Until next time –stay hungry, Augusta.
