Photos: Augusta remembers 9/11, commemorates fallen heroes with memorial and 5k run/walk

Hundreds gathered from around the Augusta area Saturday morning on the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11 to take part in the various memorial ceremonies commemorating those who fell with towers the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, including friends and loved ones, countless firefighters who rushed into the buildings to save victims and the military personnel who died in service to their nation. Local firefighters and service members donned in full working and combat gear joined other men, women and children in a 5k run/walk to honor the sacrifices made that day and beyond.
