Ryan Erlacher is the third and current athletics director of Augusta University.
Erlacher was appointed to the position on Oct. 17, 2022, after the retirement of Clint Bryant. Having served as athletic director for nearly one year, Erlacher has brought great change since his arrival.
“I’ve always wanted to work in college athletics and have been doing so for over 20 years now,” said Erlacher. “I absolutely love what I do and am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to work with our amazing coaches and student-athletes here at AU.”
He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Flagler College in 2004 and went on to earn his master’s degree in sports administration from Florida State in 2007. Erlacher began his career as a basketball coach and worked his way into administration.
During his time as the AU athletics director, he has secured $1.25 million to go toward the baseball and softball teams’ facilities and has overseen the installation of new lights for both teams. He also has begun to oversee the upcoming renovations of Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Erlacher feels extremely fortunate and grateful for all of these opportunities.
“Our program feels the investment that the university leadership is making into athletics, and we have no doubt our department will continue to represent the university well in all matters,” he said.
Erlacher said that AU is an amazing institution with exceptional leadership. He also spoke on how the community has been incredibly supportive, as well as how the coaches and student-athletes have been great to work with.
“My first year has been filled with exciting times and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our programs,” he said. “We certainly have a bold vision and a bright future.”
