Jags sweep Koala XC Classic meet

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C.—The Augusta University men and women’s cross-country teams swept the Koala XC Classic here Saturday morning, Oct. 3.
Jacob Poston took first place for the Jaguar men with a time of 23 minutes, 42 seconds on the 8-kilometer course on a crisp fall morning at Par Tee Golf Center. Second place went to Chase Kennedy in 24:02.
Next for AU was Hunter Kimball in fourth in 24:35, followed by Brennan Silliman in fifth in 24:54 and Kai Brickey in sixth in 24:57.
The third-place runner was competing unattached, so the Jaguars recorded a rare perfect score of 15 in the men’s team standings.
AU’s Hans Troyer and Chandler Kennedy finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
On the women’s side, a 6K event, AU’s Mackenzie Taylor placed first in 20:36. Teammate Miranda Taylor was third, Jaelen Alexander was sixth and Madison Congdon seventh.
Coach Adam Ward’s Jaguars next run on Oct. 16 in Hoover, Ala., at the UAB Blazer Classic.
Saturday’s meet was hosted by Columbia College.
