Coffee Week: Bouna
By Katelen Selph | Staff writer
Found on Central Avenue, Bouna Caffe is a popular hub for Augusta University Students. Bouna is known for its delicious Artisan Roasted coffee and great vibes. There is a constant flow of community throughout this cozy cafe that is infectious and leaves you wanting to spend more time here.
Bouna was founded in 2010 out of John and Pat Curry’s kitchen. Eventually, in 2013 the official coffee bar opened and has since been named Best Coffee by Augusta Magazine six years in a row. The Governor’s Mansion also had Bouna begin roasting coffee for them in 2014. They have also expanded their locations and are found in the Cyber Center on Grace Hopper Lane and on Reynolds Street.
Katerina Salazar has been working at Bouna for four months now and she says, “The atmosphere is very chill and welcoming. It feels a lot more like a family.”
This is so apparent when walking in and you are greeted with a “Hey how are you?” and continuously smiling faces. Salazar’s favorite drink is either a maple cinnamon or a maple vanilla coffee.
Lauren Mundy, a frequent visitor, says that she keeps coming back because of “The sweet, but strong coffee.” Mundy says “I absolutely love Bouna and just the community it brings. I always see someone that I know in there and if not, I’ll make a friend.”
The staff’s welcoming faces are not the only reason why people keep coming back to Bouna. The culture that is displayed throughout the shop is one of acceptance and friendship. There is always someone to meet and share a moment with. At Bouna, everyone is family.
Bouna Caffe is located at 1858 Central Ave, Augusta, GA 30904.
