Augusta University provides an excellent study abroad program for students interested in educational travel. Studying abroad has the potential to change students’ lives in countless ways. 

The study abroad office is located in Allgood Hall, E134, with staff who are eager to help answer any questions and share information concerning their program. 

AU provides multiple excellent educational trips to many different places, giving students options to find the trip best fit for them. 

“Study abroad really does open up doors for you,” said Rachel Morris, Director of study abroad. 

Studying abroad can provide many benefits to students’ careers, future and personal growth yet the thought of undertaking such an experience can be daunting. 

Here are some questions that may make clear and ease the overwhelmingness of study abroad:

How much does study abroad cost? Each trip/program varies in price- Jamaica ($2,335), New York ($2,200), West Virginia ($1,200- $1,500), Italy ($5,000), and Scotland ($5,000). Please note that these are the program prices and do not include tuition fees. 

How do you know if the study abroad classes will count towards your major? It is recommended that you schedule an appointment with your advisor first, to find out what classes will count towards your degree. Staff at the study abroad office can also offer assistance in figuring out what program best fits your degree. 

How long will I be away on study abroad? Each program differs. They can vary from one week to a whole summer. 

Will I need my passport to travel abroad? Yes, everyone who travels abroad must have a passport. 

Is studying abroad safe? Augusta Unversity prioritizes your safety and carefully considers it while planning each trip. 

Are there any positions open in the study abroad department? Positions should become available in summer 2024. 

How can study abroad benefit my academic life? Studying abroad looks good on applications, forms, relationships with faculty and brings lifelong friendships.

Can I use study abroad for honors credits? Yes, depending on the program and the year you may obtain honors credit on study abroad or study away. 

What is the difference between study abroad and study away? Study abroad is international and study away is domestic (USA).

● 97% of study abroad students found a job within a year of graduation 

● 90% of alumni were accepted into their first or second choice of graduate school

● 98% claim increased maturity and a better understanding of their own culture
