Augusta University students gear up for success at ‘Suit Up’ Event

Augusta University students looking to update or begin their professional wardrobes are in luck. On Saturday, Oct. 26, JC Penney and Augusta University’s Career Services are teaming up for a “Suit Up” event at the Augusta Mall, offering deep discounts on career wear, shoes and accessories.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., students, faculty and staff can shop for up to 50% off select items in-store. This has been confirmed to be in addition to the current sale prices on professional wear. The only requirement is to present a valid Augusta University ID.

The event is designed to help students prepare for job interviews, internships and other professional opportunities by offering discounts on clothing that might otherwise be out of reach. The initiative goes beyond just providing clothes; it’s about giving students the confidence to present themselves well in the workplace.

“We love working with colleges because it’s a chance to help students look and feel their best as they start their careers,” said Laura Jenkins, a JC Penney representative. “We know how important first impressions are, and we want to make sure they can walk into interviews and jobs ready to succeed.”

JC Penney’s annual initiative, which began in partnership with colleges and universities across the country, continues to gain popularity. The event's goal is to equip students with affordable, stylish options for interviews, internships, and their first professional jobs. For many students, this goes beyond just buying clothes—it's a confidence booster.

“I just feel like speaking and acting confidently is so much easier when you know you’re looking your best,” said J.Ben Haynes, an Advanced Public Speaking student this semester.

JC Penney Augusta confirmed that they will have customer service members available during the event to help students make informed decisions about their clothing choices and styles.

For students who can’t make it to the mall, there’s still a way to participate. By texting “AUJAGS” to 67292, students can receive a 30% off coupon to use online, giving everyone an opportunity to update their wardrobes, even if they can’t attend the in-store event.

While the 30% off coupon is good through Nov. 5th, the extra discount of up to 50% is only valid during the event being held this Saturday.

For AU students, this JC Penney event will be a way for them to start building a wardrobe that *suits* their professional futures.
