Augusta University launches new mobile app: Jag Mobile

This fall Augusta University launched Jag Mobile, a new mobile app to provide students with a handy way to track events, get updates about resources around campus and even earn rewards.

The application includes many features such as an events calendar and access to transportation between campuses and around Augusta as well as the new rewards points program PawPoints.

“Our plan is to have Jag Mobile be a one-stop shop for everything Augusta University,” said Rachel Robbins, a digital content specialist with the university’s marketing department.

Robbins explained that the development process was quite easy. “It is a user-friendly system that is easy to maneuver around so we can tailor the app to have the Augusta University branded look and feel,” she said. This app was created to make everyone feel like they are a part of the university and the Augusta community.

The PawPoints feature allows students to earn rewards points for attending university events which can be redeemed for AU swag items.

The PawPoints tab in the app shows how many points are earned based on the event type, tracks your earnings and how many points are needed for prize redemption. Once you have earned enough points, simply stop into the Office of Student Life & Engagement in the JSAC to pick up your prizes.

According to Robbins, the cost of development was minimal and the app is continuously being updated to better suit users.

“I did not know about the app, but after downloading it, it was really helpful for me and my friends. The map really comes in handy,” said Ashley Douglass, a student of the Health Sciences campus.

Robbins said that the AU marketing department is always looking for student feedback as they continue to tailor the application for an anticipated Phase 2 relaunch. Some features of Phase 2 include access to D2L, course grades and USG Connect.

As news about the new app continues to travel, more students are downloading it to start discovering what is happening at the university.

Jag Mobile is available for iPhone and Android on the App Store and Google Play.
