AU softball players show their colors in annual fun run

The Augusta University softball team participated in AU’s third annual Color Fun Run on Aug. 25 outside of Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The half-mile run began at 6 p.m. on a hot summer day with the softball team in the front row. With everyone at their mark ready to launch off color cannons, it was only seconds before the horn went off. Once the horn sounded to begin the run, the Jaguar softball team was trying to avoid a sky full of colored powder just a couple of feet above their heads.
As the run continued, the runners began to make their way closer to the finish line. At the end of the run was a large inflatable that read “Finish.”
Once everyone successfully made it across the finish line, a magical finale was awaiting. Powder bags were handed out to everyone who crossed the finish line. On the count of three, everyone celebrated by launching beautiful colors of powder off into the air.
The Jaguar softball team enjoyed the celebration. Smiles and laughs were tossed everywhere as the event came to a close.
“Being a part of the Color Fun Run allows for the community to know us, which allows for more support at our games,” said Alissa Bolinger, a senior pitcher from Palmetto (Ga.). “This is a lot of team building for us, and this is a great way for us to blend better together.”
Throughout this offseason, the Jaguar softball players look forward to participating in more events to strengthen their bond and grow together as a team.
AU Campus Recreation hosted the Color Fun Run. It was held after the Freshman Convocation at Christenberry.
