AU Police warns of aggravated assault on Laney Walker Boulevard at Druid Park Avenue

Augusta University received a report of an aggravated assault that took place at Laney Walker Boulevard at the intersection with Druid Park Avenue on Aug. 26 at approximately 5:30 a.m.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting and there is not an available description of the suspect. The suspect’s whereabouts is also unknown at the time of this article’s publishing.

In a Jag Alert sent via email to members of Augusta University the same morning, the timely warning was sent to provide community awareness and increase safety precautions in the area.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to exercise caution when walking alone, remain vigilant of their surroundings, and report crimes or safety concerns to AU Police.
