AU men's golf team to play in Auburn regional

The Augusta University men’s golf team will play in the Auburn regional in the NCAA Division I championship May 15-17.

The Jaguars, the Southland Conference champions, are the 12th seed at Auburn. That regional will be played at the Auburn University Golf Club, a par-72, 7,259-yard layout.

Vanderbilt is the top seed there, followed by Tennessee at No. 2 and host Auburn No. 3.

The other teams in the Auburn regional include Colorado State, Ohio State, Washington, TCU, UTC, Houston, Marquette, Indiana and Siena.

Texas is the defending national champion. Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt was the medalist.

Augusta, under first-year coach Steven Paine, is making its 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance. Paine’s team, led by freshman Stefan Jacobs, won the SLC title last week by 14 strokes.
