AU men, women gain non-conference basketball victories

The 12-ranked Augusta University men used hot shooting from the field to rout Reinhardt University 90-49 on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

In the women’s contest, AU defeated Newberry 53-42 behind Kiera Howard’s 12 points. Kennedi Manning added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Jaguars (8-2). Autumn Phillips also had 10 points for AU.

The Jaguar men (9-1) shot 53 percent from the field in their dominating victory. They shot even better from behind the arc, hitting at a 59-percent clip on 3-pointers.

Tyshaun Crawford led the way with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Tyree Myers added 11 points and 4 assists. Myers made 8 of 9 from the foul line.

Miguel Arnold also had 11 points, and freshman guard Chris Britt had 10 for the Jaguars.

The AU men will play at Newberry on Monday night, Dec. 19. The women will play at Anderson that same evening.
