Affordable things to do in Augusta: The Cinema Series and Medina's
By Janell Williams | Staff writer
This week’s affordable find took place right here on campus at the Maxwell Theatre. The Cinema Series here at AU hosted the premier of Alexandre Rockwell’s “Sweet Thing.”
The film focuses on the lives of siblings Billie and Nico as they learn to cope with life having an alcoholic father and absent mother. Not to give any spoilers, but this film is one to tug on the heartstrings.
The productions put on by The Cinema Series are free to students and the general public. Productions are put on one Thursday each month with showtimes at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
After the film, I wiped away my tears and refreshed my mascara before heading to a delicious dinner. I was in the mood for tacos and decided to try Medina’s, a popular restaurant in North Augusta.
The atmosphere is a family-style setting with friendly staff and upbeat mariachi music playing. The food was also amazing, and the price was not too bad either. I dined for under $20.
Located not far from campus at 615 E Martintown Rd, North Augusta, SC 29841, Medina’s is a must-try if you are ever wanting to satisfy those cravings without breaking the bank.
