Staff report |Georgia College defeated Augusta University 3-1 in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional volleyball tournament at Cuddy Arena in Wingate, N.C., on Nov. 15.The third-seeded Jaguars (24-8) won the first set, but then saw the sixth-seeded Bobcats (17-2) win three straight to capture the opening-round match. Georgia College won the next three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-19.The two teams had played in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament final on Nov. 11, and the Jaguars won to claim the league crown.AU was led by McKenzey Beck, who notched her ninth triple double of the season and her 21st of her career. Beck totaled 14 kills, 13 assists and 12 digs for Augusta in the final match of her career.Senior Savanna Gonzales had nine kills, and Jessie Hedrick and Chloe Allen produced eight each. Senior Blair Bolton added seven. Allen had 14 digs and six assisted blocks. Cheryke Brian-Garmos had 33 assists for the Jaguars.The Bobcats, led by Kayla Brockway's 41 assists and Taylor Svehla's 14 kills, advance to the regional's second round on Nov. 16. They will play USC Aiken at 5 p.m. USC Aiken, seeded second, won over Lincoln Memorial 3-0 in the first round. Top-seeded and host Wingate plays Anderson in the second round.Thursday's match was broadcast on ESPN3.
