By Leeroy Francis Jr. |Sports editorThe Augusta University women's and men's cross country teams host the 2018 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site in Beech Island, S.C. The men are the defending PBC champions.The men will run an 8K at 9:00 a.m. and will be followed by the women's 5K at 10:15 a.m.On Friday, Nov. 2, on the eve of the race, the Jaguars will host the PBC Championship Banquet beginning at 5:00 p.m. inside Lee Auditorium on the AU Health Sciences Campus.Augusta already raced at Redcliffe Plantation this season when the Jaguars hosted the Jaguar Cross Country Invitational Sept. 22 where the Jaguar men placed first overall, while the women grabbed third.Currently ranked fourth in the NCAA Southeast Region, the Augusta men have placed in the top-three in all four of their regular-season events this season, including back-to-back victories at the Jaguar XC Invitational and at the North Georgia Invitational. Currently sitting 10th in the NCAA Southeast Region, the Augusta's women's XC team has placed seventh or better in every event so far this year. The Jag women's best finish came at the Jaguar XC Invitational where they finished third overall.Augusta University sophomore Jacob Poston, the Peach Belt Conference runner of the week for the week of Sept. 16-22, and sophomore Micah Weathers, women's cross country Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week for the week of September 2-8, will look to lead their teams to conference titles.Admission to the event is $5 per car, and all PBC students with a valid student ID are admitted free.
