By Ceara Hester |ContributorAlthough the Jaguars’ volleyball team lost to Georgia College on Sept. 25 in Milledgeville, AU bounced back with a pair of road victories on the weekend.Against Georgia College, the Jags lost their first Peach Belt match of the season, in four sets. The Jags won the first set by a score of 25-23, but Georgia College won the next three, 25-23, 27-25 and 25-20.Senior outside hitter Savanna Gonzales led the Jaguars with 15 kills, and junior setter Cheryke Brian-Garmos had 26 assists.Augusta won over UNC-Pembroke on Sept. 28 by scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23. AU junior middle-blocker Jessica Hedrick posted 10 kills, while setter Brian-Garmos totaled 21 assists to help lead the Jags to its 10th shutout of the season.The Lady Jaguars were victorious at Francis Marion on Sept. 29. The visitors lost the first set 25-21, but rallied to win the next three sets 25-23, 25-17 and 25-7. Sophomores Chloe Allen and Alyssa Frazier contributed 11 kills each, and senior setter McKenzey Beck led with 25 assists.After those two road victories, AU stood at 3-1 in the conference and 13-3 overall.The next match will be at the Christenberry Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. for faculty appreciation night. The Jaguars will play against Emmanuel College before having two more home games, against Lander at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, and against USC Aiken at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, when the Wounded Warrior Project will be there to cheer on AU.
