By Megan Johnson |ContributorThe Augusta University women’s golf team is back on the Forest Hills Golf Club course preparing for its upcoming season. The team is looking back at last year and using what they learned to make the upcoming season even better.Assistant Golf coach JP van der Walt said last semester saw the young women play well and never stop fighting.“The team was challenged to always have positive body language and to be more unified as a team,” he said.Van der Walt says the Jags have a good team this year and are ready for the season.“A new player from Indonesia will be joining the team, and we are looking forward to having her,” he said.That new golfer is freshman Natalia Yoko, who is from Jakarta.Van der Walt stated he wants AU to make it to regionals and nationals this year. Sarah Tychsen, a senior, hopes for the same thing.“We did so many good things last year that I feel have allowed us to be better prepared physically and mentally this year,” said Tychsen, a senior communication major from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.The Lady Jaguars' first tournament of the season will be Sept. 21-23. In the opener, Coach Caroline Hegg's Jags will play in the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.Among the returning players are Cecilia Diez-Moliner and Maggie Ashmore, both seniors. Diez-Moliner had the lowest stroke average on the team last season, while Ashmore finished fourth at the Moon Golf Invitational. Another standout is junior Linda Lundqvist, who had the second best stroke average on the team last season with four top-20 finishes.
