By Jordan Stenger |Staff writerAugusta University’s Cinema Series is screening the heartwarming Spanish language film En El Séptimo Día on Aug. 30. at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Performing Arts theatre.Matthew Buzzell, professor of Communication and director of the Cinema Series, said “this film shines a light on the faces and places we read about but don’t necessarily see and we certainly don’t see portrayed in film.”The film follows the story of a group of undocumented immigrants living and working in Brooklyn, New York. The lead character, José, has to choose between his dignity and his responsibility by either supporting his soccer team in the finals, or showing up for work on his day off.The film artfully balances the lighthearted soccer theme with the heavier social commentary of life as an undocumented immigrant in the United States.“The film is a grounded reflection of the times in which we live,” Buzzell said.Bring a friend and come and see for yourself how José balances his dignity with his responsibilities in En el Séptimo Día.The trailer for the movie can be found here.
