Augusta women’s guard Tomiyah Alford has taken home her second Peach Belt Conference basketball player of the week award of the season.
She earned the honor after an impressive week in which the Lady Jaguars defeated both Lander and North Georgia on the road.
In the two games, she totaled 34 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. These performances bring her averages up to 14 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Alford, averaging 14 points per game on the season, has led this Jaguar team to a 19-7 overall record overall and 13-3 in the conference. That’s good enough for second place in the PBC with two games to go in the regular season.
"I am very proud of Tomiyah receiving the player of the week award for a second time,” said AU Coach Celeste Stewart. “She has been playing very well this season and been a consistent contributor for our team. She is such a hard worker and always gives her best effort, so I'm glad to see it pay off for her. Well deserved."
Alford will look to lead her teammates to two more victories this week as they host Georgia College on Wednesday, Feb. 28, and USC Beaufort on Saturday, March 2. If the Jaguars win Wednesday night, they will have the program’s first 20-win season since 2015-16.
