Theatre AUG & Department of Art and Design to Present Spring Show
By Faydia Ramnarine | Contributor
Theatre AUG and Augusta University’s Department of Art and Design will present a spring performance of “Metaphysique D’ephemera” on March 18-21 at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
Due to social distancing guidelines, the event will take place on the portico of the Maxwell Performing Arts Theater on the Summerville Campus.
This show was written by Sarah K. Jackson and Christopher Shipman and will be directed by Dr. Melanie Kitchens O’Meara, an Associate Professor at AU. Metaphysique D’ephemera is a performance piece based on the art and assemblage process of Joseph Cornell. This performance piece addresses the ephemerality of experience and the conflicts that arise when the protagonist, The Cat Prince, chooses to only live in the past and forget to experience the present or make room for the future. The cast is composed of both current AU students and alumna.
Seating will be limited to between 30-35 guests per evening, with guests being limited to AU students, staff, and faculty. Admission will be free for these guests.
Theatre AUG typically produces two shows per year, which has been put off since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be Theatre AUG’s first production since the Fall of 2018.
