Augusta University’s student organization The Crew held their first Takeover Tuesday of the semester in the Jaguar Student Activities Center to give away free items including water bottles, packaged snacks and notepads.

Students spent the lunch hour socializing and learning about what the student organization had to offer. The Crew also provided music as some students danced to the Cupid Shuffle.

Jorden Crawford, a member of The Crew, explained why they organize these events.

“It can help take the stress away from class,” said Crawford.

Crawford added how students are able to interact with each other socially during that time.

“You can get the kids out of their shells,” he said. “You can meet new friends.”

Students who attended shared what they thought of the event.

Rose Holsey, a business administration major, mentioned how easy it was for students to participate.

“You can definitely jump in on your way to class,” she said.

Sarah Hemphill, a nursing major said, “I like events like this.”

Speaking on the subject of how these events would be helpful for new students, Hemphill said, “This exposes them to student organizations.”

Other student organizations including Student Government and Jags Live Well were also present and provided free items as well.

The Crew plans to host events alternating online and in-person on Tuesdays throughout the semester.

Students can follow The Crew on their Instagram page @aug_thecrew to learn more about upcoming occasions and future activities.
