Spending Christmas in Augusta? Check out these events

Though long-distance students may not have the liberty to visit their hometowns during the holiday season, there are still plenty of ways to make Christmas merry and bright. Luckily for AU students, Augusta's River Region is alive with events and activities.
Here are a few activities that will ensure you have a festive and heartwarming celebration, even if you can't make it home for Christmas.
There is nothing quite like a Christmas parade to get you in the holiday spirit. The annual Augusta Christmas Parade is set for Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. on Greene and Telfair Street in Downtown Augusta. Revel in the spectacle of decorated floats, lively marching bands, a special visit from Santa and a myriad of festive delights. https://rmhcaugusta.org/what-we-do/augusta-parade/
Take in waterfront views at the 5th Street Marina Holiday Market by the Savannah River every Sunday in November and December. Explore vendor stalls offering holiday items and indulge in hot chocolate and delicious food. https://www.facebook.com/fifthstreetmarina/
Experience the enchantment of Lights of the South with hundreds of sparkling displays illuminating the trails. Walk or take a hayride through the lights and cap off your evening with delightful s'mores. http://lightsofthesouth.com/
Woodrow Wilson’s childhood home is located in Augusta, opening up every Christmas for educational holiday tours. You can go back in time and learn what Christmas was like post WWI each Wednesday-Saturday in December except for the 24th and 25th. https://historicaugusta.org/holiday-tours/
You can also enjoy traditional Christmas shows this holiday season. Enjoy a festive night as the Augusta Players present “White Christmas” Dec. 8-10, or indulge in Augusta Ballets’ rendition of “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 15. https://www.augustaplayers.org/ https://www.thecenterofcc.com/event/augusta-ballet-presents-the-nutcracker/
No matter your circumstances this Christmas, make the best out of your time and spend it doing the things you love. For more ideas, check out www.visitaugusta.com. Happy Holidays!
