She Blossoms hosts Valentine's bake sale, prepares for upcoming events

Just two days before Valentine’s Day, Augusta University’s women’s organization, She Blossoms, hosted a bake sale for students on Feb. 12. The sale took place in the Jaguar Student Activities Center breezeway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering banana pudding, strawberry brownies, and white chocolate strawberry brownies. The organization made approximately 45 to 50 sales.
All proceeds from the event will go toward She Blossoms’ funding, which helps cover decorations, food, and membership appreciation.
She Blossoms President Cerise Pollard, who has led the organization for two years, spoke about the importance of the group’s fundraising and volunteer efforts.
“The overall message of our tabling events for fundraising and our volunteer events is about giving back to the community while making a change,” Pollard said while cleaning up after the sold-out sale.
Founded in 2016, She Blossoms focuses on empowerment, sisterhood, and helping women find their identity on campus. The organization includes positions such as vice president, secretary, treasurer, marketing chair, event chair, and volunteer chair.
With more than 80 members, She Blossoms regularly gives back to the community by volunteering at food banks, hosting clothing and food drives, and participating in campus events that support local initiatives.
“She Blossoms is important to campus because it helps students find their self-identity and build friendships,” Pollard said. “The transition from high school to college is a big change, and it’s essential to have women around you with similar characteristics and a sense of bonding.”
She Blossoms will partner with the Health Services Society on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. to host a Letters of Love event, where students can write Valentine’s Day letters to elementary school children. The event will take place in the JSAC Butler Room and will include refreshments and treats.
The organization is also planning a volunteer event at Golden Harvest Food Bank on Feb. 26.
