Senator Jon Ossoff holds virtual town hall event

Georgia U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff held a virtual town hall about economic relief from the pandemic on March 8, 2021. 

Ossoff spoke of his purpose for holding the event. 

“What this is about y’all is building a direct connection between your representative in the senate and you…”. “This is about open, accessible and transparent government,” he said. 

“Town hall meetings like this one are a great way for us to connect,” added Ossoff. 

Ossoff explained The American Rescue Plan Act bill which passed in the Senate.  

“This bill is a huge investment in the public health effort to defeat COVID-19,” he stated. 

The Senator mentioned that college students who are considered adult dependents will be able to receive stimulus checks for the first time. 

“Adult dependents–college students, you are going to be eligible to receive stimulus checks on your families’ filling,” he said. 

He also provided details on where the funding would be spent for state and local government, reopening of schools, and public health.
