See how AU celebrated Study Abroad Day

Augusta University’s Study Abroad office celebrated National Study Abroad Day, which is celebrated on the last Monday in February, by hosting an event in the Allgood Hall atrium on Feb. 28.
“You know how everything has a special day? Like National Pancake Day? National Dog Day? Well today is National Study Abroad Day,” said Study Abroad Director Katherine Grego.
The Study Abroad Day event was held to spread the word about the program and encourage students to join while also providing international refreshments to give the AU community a taste of foods and beverages from around the world.
“We have a variety of international coffees provided by Buona Caffe, also some international teas, and a variety of fruits and pastries like scones, cannoli and croissants,“ said Grego.
The Study Abroad program allows students to travel around the world and learn outside of the classroom.
“The Study Abroad program is a way for students to do experiential learning which is learning that takes place outside of the classroom,” she said. “We have a variety of programs that change every year, so check back with us every fall semester, in August or September, to see what programs we are actively recruiting for.”
Although it is now spring semester, the Study Abroad office is still actively recruiting for some programs that will be occurring over the summer.
“We are still recruiting for the South Carolina Gullah Medicine Traditions program, UK (United Kingdom) Humanities program, and Spain Spanish Immersion program,” said Grego.
She added, “We do also have scholarships, internal scholarships and we also help advise for national scholarship opportunities as well.”
