AU's Quarles nets 500th win of her volleyball coaching career

Augusta University volleyball coach Sharon Quarles earned the 500th victory of her career as the Jaguars got three road wins in the Peach Belt-SAC Crossover on Oct. 21-22.
Quarles has coached at four schools, including Franklin Pierce, West Chester and Maine at Machias. She played her college volleyball at the University of Florida—and her UF coach, Mary Wise, got the 1,000th win of her career in the NCAA playoffs last season.
The Peach Belt leaders scored a 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 win over Mars Hill on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Jaguars (20-5) were led by Jazmyn Wheeler with 17 kills and 19 digs. Kiera Barr had 20 digs for Augusta.
That win came on the heels of a sweep of Tusculum and Carson-Newman the previous night.
Wheeler had 17 kills and Jada Suguturaga had seven blocks in a 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 win over the Tusculum Pioneers. Wheeler totaled 18 kills and Suguturaga 13 in a four-set win over Carson-Newman, by scores of 26-28, 25-13, 25-23, 25-14. Barr had 15 digs against Tusculum and Dariana Luna had 16 digs against Carson-Newman.
The Jaguars (8-2 in the Peach Belt) are in the homestretch of their schedule with five matches left to be played. They play at Georgia College (6-4, 10-14) on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. AU has already beaten the Bobcats twice this season. Both of those matches were in Augusta.
AU will play at rival USC Aiken on Friday, Oct. 28.
