Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jon Ossoff held a drive-in campaign rally in Augusta Friday afternoon.
The event was held in the parking lot of the James Brown Arena.
Ossoff spoke before the large crowd as supporters blew their horns and stood to watch.
As the state of Georgia faces two senate races, Ossoff said “The stakes are high y’all.”
In his remarks, Ossoff urged the crowd to vote. “We have to organize, mobilize, register, get out the vote like we have never done before in this state.”
“It’s time for us to make history,” he said. “It’s time for us to make a statement about what Georgia stands for…This is our time.”
After the event, attendants lined up to have photos take and meet the candidate.
Mayor Hardie Davis and Georgia State Senator Harold V. Jones II spoke at the event along with other members of local government.
Mayor Davis spoke and encouraged people to continue vote in whichever way they can.
“We’re gonna vote by mail,” he said.
Amongst the many attendees as the rally were Augusta University medical students Sehar Ali, Aditi Talkad and Kasey Shepp.
Shepp, a 4th year medical student shared her thoughts on the rally. “It was great to see everyone come out for Jon Ossoff in the Augusta community and democrats across Georgia”, she said.
