Jaguars' volleyball team begins its season going 1-2 in Florida Southern event

Augusta University’s volleyball team grabbed one win in the Jaguars’ first tournament of the year at the FSC Volleyball Classic in Lakeland, Fla.
The Jaguars are coming into this season with only five returning athletes and six transfers from junior college.
AU opened the season with a dominate win, defeating Bloomfield College three sets to none (25-17, 25-10, 25-20).
Senior Alexis Diaz-Infante led the Jaguars with nine kills on 14 attempts.
Transfers Madelyn Eden and Jordan Jerome finished with eight kills each.
Senior Samantha Zittrauer finished with a match high 21 assists. Senior Kiera Barr led the defense with 18 digs and Eden had four blocks.
Florida Southern College defeated AU three sets to zero (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) on Friday evening.
Díaz-Infante also led the Jaguars in match two with 7 kills on 16 attempts. Newcomer Abigail Breeden, a sophomore, led in assists with 14. Dariana Luna, a junior transfer from Venezuela, led in digs with 13.
On Saturday, the Jaguars dropped their final match in Florida three sets to none (25-21, 25-17, 25-18) against Lynn University.
Freshman Abigail Levines and Jerome led offensively with five kills each. Barr finished with 19 digs on the defense.
The Jaguars will now head to USC Aiken for the Pacer Invitational beginning on Friday, Sept. 2.
On Friday, AU will face North Greenville University at 11:30 a.m., followed by a match against Francis Marion at 4:30 p.m.
The Jaguars will face Auburn University at Montgomery on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., followed by University of Mount Olive at 5:30 p.m.
