The Augusta University softball team wrapped up its first week of the 2025 season with a 3-3 record over a four-day stretch from Feb. 1 to Feb. 4.

The Jaguars opened the season with a doubleheader split on the road against North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina.

In Game 1, Augusta trailed 5-2 through four innings before erupting for eight runs over the final three frames to win 10-5.

Senior catcher Cadence Winder led the Jaguars' offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, including a two-run home run in her first at-bat of the season.

Sophomore pitcher Madalyn Spinks relieved starter Payton Terrell and stifled the Trailblazers, pitching four scoreless innings and allowing just three hits.

In Game 2, a two-run home run by Virginia Bishop in the bottom of the fifth inning lifted North Greenville to a 4-2 victory.

The Jaguars returned home the next day to play a doubleheader against Catawba College at Jaguar Field.

In the opener, Augusta took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning when preseason All-Peach Belt Conference selection Bailey Roberts hit a two-run home run.

However, a five-run fourth inning by Catawba put the game out of reach as the Indians secured a 9-3 win.

In Game 2, a solo home run by Catawba’s Micaela Hartman extended the Indians’ lead to 7-3 in the sixth inning.

Preseason All-Peach Belt Conference selection Bobbi Poff responded with a three-run home run to bring the Jaguars within one, but Augusta ultimately fell 7-6.

Two days later, the Jaguars hosted Erskine College and dominated both games of a doubleheader at Jaguar Field.

Augusta won the first game 8-1, powered by Poff and Winder, who combined for five hits, four RBIs, and two runs scored.

The Jaguars stayed hot in Game 2, cruising to a 9-2 victory. Winder and Roberts fueled the offense, each homering and combining for six RBIs and three runs scored.

The Jaguars will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Florence, South Carolina, for a doubleheader against Francis Marion. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
