Cleaver leads Jaguar VB team to victory over UNC Pembroke in five sets

Kayli Cleaver delivered 20 kills to lead the Augusta University volleyball team to a five-set win over UNC Pembroke on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Jaguars (17-5) won 25-22, 25-14, 19-25, 19-25, 15-13.

Cleaver, the freshman from West Stanly High School in North Carolina, collected her 20 kills on 40 swings to lead the Jaguars to victory.

Teammate Jazyman Wheeler, the Peach Belt player of the week, added 14 kills. Wheeler also had 15 digs.

Senior Alexis Diaz-Infante chipped in nine kills, while Madelyn Eden had eight kills and 10 blocks.

Samantha Zittrauer had 33 assists and Abigail Breeden 20 for the winners. Kiera Barr had 21 digs for AU. Dariana Luna added 13 digs.

For Pembroke (15-12), Vanja Przulj led with 18 kills, followed by Brianna Warren with 14 and Taylor Osborne with 11.

Up next for the Jaguars is the Peach Belt/SAC Crossover in Jefferson City, Tenn., on Oct. 21, against Tusculum and Carson-Newman. Then, on Oct. 22, AU will play Mars Hill at Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tenn.
