Jaguar volleyball team wins ninth in a row, is ranked second in Southeast

The Augusta University volleyball team is on a hot streak, winning nine matches in a row after a three-set win over Georgia College on Oct. 25 in Milledgeville.
The Jaguars remain in first place in the Peach Belt Conference and are now ranked second in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region.
The Jaguars (9-2, 21-5) took the opening set against Georgia College 25-13 with the visitors getting 20 kills.
The second set was the closest of the three with the Jaguars winning 26-24. The Bobcats (6-5, 10-15) had a better hitting percentage, 0.167, but AU pulled through.
Augusta University ran away with the third set, winning 25-11 and having a 0.428 hitting percentage.
Abigail Breeden had 23 assists with Samantha Zittrauer not too far behind with 21.
Senior Alexis Diaz-Infante totaled 16 kills throughout the match. She was followed by Jazmyn Wheeler, who had 10.
Wheeler was named Peach Belt player of the week for the third time in a row. She averaged 4.4 kills and 3.47 digs per set in the four games where AU went 4-0 in the prior week. She holds the position of second in the conference in total kills and points earned throughout the current season.
Augusta will take on USC Aiken on Friday, Oct. 28, at the USC Aiken Convocation Center at 6 p.m.
The Jaguars will return home with a match against Lander, the current second-place team in the Peach Belt Conference. This will be an important game for Augusta University to further solidify its spot as the top team in the conference. This match will take place at Christenberry Fieldhouse on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
