Holder tied for second, Jaguars tied for third after first day of Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate

After Day One of the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Tenn., on Monday, Sept. 20, the Augusta University women’s golf team sat in a three-way tie for third place with Texas Tech and the University of Miami at 6 over par.

The tournament host, the University of Tennessee, is currently tied for first with Brigham Young University. 

“What a climb for the Lady Jags today,” AU Coach Caroline Hegg wrote on Facebook. “We moved up 11 spots in the second round.”

The teams played rounds one and two on Sept. 20 and will play the last round today, Sept. 21.  The tourney is being played at at Cherokee Country Club.

AU Freshman Chloe Holder is leading the Jaguars as she’s was tied for second, shooting 4 under par. Holder is tied with Kent State’s Emily Price, as the two followed closely behind BYU’s Kerstin Fotu, who’s shot 6 under par.  

After the first round , Holder was tied for 17th, shooting a 71, but after shooting a 67 in the second round she was able to make a big leap.  

Freshman Kennedy Carroll follows behind Holder. Carroll shot even par and was tied for seventh. Mary Hunt Murray (+6), Napabhach Boon-In (+8) and Natalia Yoko (+12) rounded out the Jags’ 36-hole scores.
