Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society to begin 33rd concert series

The Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society announced the dates for the 33rd annual Harry Jacobs Concert Series with the first concert taking place this week.
Soprano singer Diana Thompson-Brewer will join pianist Christopher Cooley to kick off the series of performances with a Hausmusik concert on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre.
Here is the list of upcoming events for 2023-2024:
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center – Rachmaninov Celebration | Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 at 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre
Vola Jacobs Memorial Piano Recital, Byole Kim, piano | Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 at 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre
Boston Brass | Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre
Galvin Cello Quartet | Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre
Admission prices are listed below:
Admission is free for AU/EGSC students, faculty, and staff with a valid JagCard.
Admission is free for Harry Jacobs Chamber Society Members.
Public: $10
Alumni: $7
Senior (60+): $7
Military: $7
Children and Students, with valid school ID, are admitted free at the door.
The concert series was also promoted as AU recognized Wycliffe Gordon Day on Aug. 17.
Wycliffe Gordon, the director of Jazz studies at Augusta University, is a well-known trombonist and jazz musician. He was named “Trombonist of the Year” for the 13th time in 2020 by the Jazz Journalists Association.
Augusta University’s Department of Music would like to see continued support for its students, musicians and events from the surrounding community.
