Staff report

Patrick Reed and Maverick Antcliff, former Augusta University golfers, each had outstanding golf tournaments over the past weekend.

Reed, ranked ninth in the world, finished in fifth place on June 6 at The Memorial in Dublin, Ohio. Reed, the 2018 Masters champion, closed with back-to-back 69s to finish five shots behind Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa. Cantlay defeated Morikawa in a playoff to earn $1,674,000. Reed, who played for Augusta State University in 2010-2011, won $381,300.

Last week also was the 10th anniversary of ASU’s second NCAA Division I men’s golf championship. Reed was one of the leaders of that team, which defended its 2010 title.

Antcliff, meanwhile, finished in a tie for 11th at the Porsche European Open at the Green Eagle Golf Course in Hamburg, Germany, on the European Tour. The Australian shot a 2-under-par 214 for the 54-hole event. He won $21,200. Antclff had finished second at the Canary Islands Championship in May. Antcliff played at AU 2012-2016.

Scott Jamieson, who finished his career at Augusta State in 2005, also competed in Hamburg and finished in a tie for 18th at 215. Jamieson had a tied eighth last year at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. He won the Nelson Mandela Championship in 2012.
