"Deadpool & Wolverine:" Was it worth the hype?

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is the first Disney-acquired Deadpool movie since the rights to the franchise were bought out from Fox in March 2019. This is the third installment in the Deadpool series and the latest film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Leslie Uggams, Emma Corrin and many others who won’t be named to avoid spoilers. Director Shawn Levy returns to work with Reynolds again in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” their last cited work together was in the 2021 movie “Free Guy,” also starring Reynolds.
Many were concerned with the fact that this newly acquired franchise from Disney would have to tone down on what made the first two movies special in the audience’s eyes because of the “family-friendly” nature that Disney seems to hold dearly. Now that the movie is out for the public to see, did it live up to the hype built on from the other movies in the series?
“Deadpool & Wolverine” received an 8/10 rating from IMDb, a whopping 56% on Metacritic and a 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film made around $1.143 billion at the box office and is ranked number 31 for top lifetime grosses according to Box Office Mojo.
A Google user rated the movie 5/5 stars and said, “It lives up to the hype! They got it right! Electrified!” Another user stated, “If you’ve been waiting for Deadpool and Wolverine for the past year like me and everyone else. Then I can assure you, you will not be disappointed!”
The critic reviews and audience perception seems to line up well with this film, albeit with a few minor exceptions. The overall response to “Deadpool & Wolverine” seems to be resonant with the record-breaking box office numbers it’s still pulling in. The film is still out in theaters in case you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, and considering the reception it’s been receiving from fans and critics alike, it’s safe to say that it has lived up to the hype.
