D2 Bracketology: Our final prediction for the Southeast Region
Justin Gray | Sports editor
Before the weekend, we told Jaguar fans what needed to happen to get Augusta in the field, and it all happened—and more.
North Georgia fell to the eventual Peach Belt Conference Champion, USC Aiken, in the semifinals, which basically locked Augusta in the field.
Lincoln Memorial lost to Lenoir-Rhyne in the South Atlantic Conference Championship, 82-78, which will move them down.
All of these results tell you that the weekend went even better than expected as we believe the Jaguars will go into the field as the six-seed. The main reasoning for that would be to keep them from playing a Peach Belt Conference team in the first round.
Final Forecast:
Columbus State (24-4) (Host)
USC Aiken (22-7) (PBC Champion)
Lenoir-Rhyne (26-5) (SAC Champion)
Lincoln Memorial (25-5)
UNC Pembroke (23-6) (Conference Carolinas Champion)
Augusta University (19-10)
Carson-Newman (21-11)
Catawba (18-12)
We will have an article out tonight when the bracket is officially announced at 11 p.m. (EST).
