Holder finishes tied for third in AU women’s golf team's third-place team finish in Las Vegas

Augusta University freshman Chloe Holder finished tied for third place for the Jaguar women’s golf team at The Show at Spanish Trail on Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Jaguars finished third as a team in the two-day event on Feb. 14-15. Five golfers competed for AU on the par-72, 6402-yard course for their opening spring season tournament. 

Holder led AU with her third-place finish, shooting even par for the tournament. She had her lowest score in the opening round, shooting a 2-under-par 70 with four birdies and two bogeys. In the final two rounds, Holder shot a 1-over-par 73 both times. 

AU junior Napabhach Boon-In finished in a seven-way tie for 17th, shooting 6-over-par for the tournament. She shot her best on rounds one and two, shooting 1-over-par 73 both times. In her final round, she shot a 4-over-par 76 with one birdie and five bogeys. 

Freshman Kennedy Carroll also finished tied for 17th. She shot her best in round two with a 2-under-par 70. She started the tournament with a 2-over-par 74 before shooting her best round. Carroll fell back her final round, shooting a 6-over-par 78. 

Senior Natalia Yoko finished tied for 35thfor the Jaguars, also shooting her best in round two with an even-par 72 with three birdies and three bogeys. Round one she finished with a 2-over-par 72. Yoko struggled her final round with an 8-over-par 80. 

AU senior Nicole Page finished tied for 35th, shooting the best round of any Jaguar with a 3-under-par 69 with four birdies and one bogey. Page was tied for third after the first round and also shot well in round two with a 1-over-par 73. Scores were higher for everyone in the tournament in the third round, including Page, who struggled with a 14-over-par 86. 

UNLV won the tournament handily, finishing at 4-under-par as a team. Nevada finished second, shooting 9-over-par as a team. Nevada Junior Leah John won the individual title, finishing at 4-under-par.

The Jaguars’ next tournament will be in Melbourne, Fla., on Feb. 20-22 for the Moon Golf Invitational.
