Career building in college

Students at all levels of university can and should look for any opportunity to build and grow their post-college career. Augusta University provides many opportunities for all students to learn and grow as professionals in their major and field. 

One of the places students can first start building themselves up is Augusta University’s Academic Success Center.  

“Working in the Academic Success Center gave me some needed experience in a professional environment,” said Colson Herrin, an Augusta University junior and former microeconomics tutor for the Academic Success Center. 

“For students, the Academic Success Center can help develop yourself in ways that can be applied to both the university and working world,” added Herrin.  

“The Academic Success Center really helped me learn how to study effectively and helped me develop habits that are still useful even in my post-college career,” said Aaron Conner, an alumnus of Augusta University.  

Augusta University also is ripe with internships and clubs that can help students build a network, make connections and get experience. 

“AU prepped me by allowing me to have opportunities that helped me in the future. I started an internship at the ADP my last Spring semester and that helped me secure a full-time position with them after graduation,” said Timberly Fernandez, an alumna of Augusta University.  

“I would recommend students to connect with their advisors and join different clubs. I was able to connect with different people from ADP when I was a part of the Women’s Leadership Academy club my senior year and it was also helpful during my internship and also with applying,” added Fernandez.  

Though most students tend to start looking to build their post-college careers in their final years and months of college, it is never too early to start. Students of all levels should look to use any opportunities provided by Augusta University to build their careers.
