Augusta University Rocket League team continues its hot run

The Augusta University varsity Rocket League team has made the Peach Belt Conference its hunting grounds after yet another 3-0 victory over the University of South Carolina at Aiken on Oct. 1.

The map scores were 4-1, 5-1, and 7-3.

The Jaguars decided to introduce a new player into the lineup, Carson (Carsinho) Berry, after his impressive performance against the University of North Carolina at Asheville last week on the junior varsity roster. Berry marks the first player to be promoted from the junior varsity roster to the varsity roster for AU Esports, and he delivered.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to play in this new league,” Berry said. “It was a bit unexpected, but I was really excited and wanted to make the most of it. Overall it was a good match, and I'm looking forward to future games in the PBC.”

Berry solidified the back field for AU, setting up five assists and five saves. Not to mention he scored twice and put up nine shots himself. All three players were able to compete from the Esports Arena (known as Gromit’s Grotto amongst players), adding another level of cohesion and camaraderie. The arena is in the Georgia Cyber Center building in downtown Augusta.

Jordan (jrdn.) Moratin led the offense this week with an impressive eight total goals and 12 shots, good enough for 75 percent accuracy and his best performance of the season. Zack (realpyeguy) Pye trailed close with six goals and 11 shots.

The USCA Pacers seemed to be outclassed in every category throughout the game, but put up a valiant effort as they fell to 1-3 on the season.

The Jaguars seem to be getting stronger with each map, and that’s going to be a problem for the rest of the PBC. AU stands alone at the top of the standings, 3-0, and have all but secured the No. 1 seed going into the PBC Tournament on Oct. 21. There are only two matches left, Columbus State and Florida Southern, that stand in the way of an undefeated PBC season for AU Rocket League.
