Augusta University men’s golf team finishes 14th at Tennessee tournament

The Augusta University men’s golf team finished 14th at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate held at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.
AU freshman Gareth Steyn finished tied for 50th in the tournament and finished with a three-day total of 2 over par. He shot an even-par round 72 for the final 18 holes. Steyn had 10 birdies throughout the tournament.
Jaguar junior Alex van Wyk tied for 62nd with a three-day score of 4 over par. On the third day, Van Wyk shot a 73. Van Wyk had four birdies over the three days.
AU sophomore Hampus Wijkstrom was third for AU. Wijkstrom shot a three-day score of 5 over par and finished tied for 70th. On the final day, Wijkstrom shot 76, with 10 birdies in three rounds.
AU sophomore Wilhelm C. Berg Von Linde finished with a three-day total of 10 over par, finishing in a tie for 81st. Linde shot 75 on the final day and had five birdies during the tournament.
AU freshman Dawson Booth was 84th at 11 over par. Booth had a third-round 76 and had six birdies in three days.
Freshman CJ van Wyk, playing unattached, finished tied for 79th and had a three-day total of +9. He finished with a day-three performance of 75 and had eight birdies total throughout all three days.
East Tennessee State won the team title with a score of 35 under par, six shots ahead of second-place Charlotte, which finished at 29 under par.
Ben Carr, a senior from Georgia Southern, was the medalist with a 13-under-par total, one shot ahead of Penn State’s Jimmy Meyers, who finished at -12.
Next up for the Jaguars is the Tavistock Invitational in Orlando, Fla. The Tavistock Invitational will be a three-day tournament from Oct. 17-19.
