Augusta University has announced the cancellation of all in-person classes and activities on all campuses, Friday, Jan. 10, due to an approaching winter storm. Online classes will proceed as scheduled.
In a statement from President Russell T. Keen, the university emphasized that the safety of students and employees remains its top priority. Faculty members are advised to coordinate with their department chairs and deans to ensure any missed instructional content is covered and that courses continue uninterrupted.
To accommodate the disruption, the deadline to drop or add classes has been extended until Monday, Jan. 13, at 11:59 p.m.
Residence hall students can expect further guidance on transportation and dining from Housing and Residence Life. Atrium Dining will remain open on its regular schedule.
Students and faculty with clinical responsibilities will receive specific instructions from their respective leadership. Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center and clinics will continue to operate as usual, and employees of Wellstar facilities are expected to report to work as scheduled.
University employees are encouraged to work remotely unless designated as essential personnel. Supervisors will contact essential staff members who are required to report in person.
Updates will be provided on Augusta University’s social media accounts and at augusta.edu. The university plans to resume regular classes and activities on Monday, Jan. 13.
