With the 2023 Masters set for the beginning of April, Augusta National Golf Club is seeking to hire employees before the spring approaches with two job fairs hosted at Augusta University this week.

The first job fair was held in the JSAC Roscoe Williams Ballroom on the Summerville Campus on Oct. 4. The second was held in the Education Commons Lobby on the Health Sciences campus the following day.

The events were open to any member of AU, including students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Attendants had the opportunity to learn about the various stations and positions the organization is looking to fill for the tournament. Representatives from each section spoke to those who were interested and responded to questions they had.

Positions are listed across four departments including concessions, hospitality, security and merchandise.

Managers mentioned that each of the jobs is meant to provide the best possible experience for patrons and visitors. Because hospitality is known as a crucial component of the Masters experience, Augusta National representatives described every job as a much need part of the operation.

According to representatives of Augusta National, the AU community “has always been a great partner.”

Students in particular can benefit from the opportunity to work, as the Masters tournament is held over the spring break. The managers of the golf club said that working at the Masters also exposes the students to the possibility of being involved and finding a career in the hospitality business.

In preparation for the widely known golfing event that brings thousands of tourists to the Augusta area yearly, Augusta National officials said an economic boost is brought to the area as well.

A spokesman said: “It’s important to make sure that we’re engaging the community.”

In addition to learning about the job offerings, those who attended the hiring fair received a small gift bag.

AU’s Career Services also encourages those looking for work to become familiar with Handshake, as available job opportunities are listed there.
