AU women’s golf leads the Southland Conference Championship after two rounds

The Augusta women’s golf team holds a 53-stroke lead on the second-place team in the Southland Conference Championship through the first two rounds of play in the 54-hole tournament.
The Jaguars opened play on Monday, April 15, at the Bandit Golf Course in New Braunfels, Texas, by shooting 6 over par as a team, taking an 18-stroke lead over the next highest team, Texas A&M Commerce.
Kennedy Carroll led the Jaguars and the entire tournament field by shooting a 2-under-par score in the opening round. Following her on the leaderboard was her teammate Napabhach Boon-in, Texas A&M Corpus-Christie’s Lucie Charbonnier and Augusta’s Daniela Burgos.
Onto day two, where the Jaguars really took control of this tournament, shooting 2 under par as a team!
Carroll shot 4 under par to bring her to 6 under for the tournament, still at the top of the leaderboard. Shooting her way up to second-place was AU’s Victoria Zheng, who carded a 1-under-par score on the day and was 3 over for the tournament. Boon-in (+4) and Burgos (+6) also stayed in the top five.
Yes, the Jaguars have four of the top five scorers in the tournament.
The Jaguars of Coach Caroline Haase-Hegg will head into their final round of play on Wednesday, April 17, looking to clinch a third straight league title and another berth in the NCAA Division I regionals.
