AU women get tennis victory over Mount Olive

The Augusta University women’s tennis team edged the University of Mount Oliver 4-3 at Newman Tennis Center on Friday, Feb. 15.

The Jaguars (3-2) took the doubles points with two match victories and then got singles victories from Andrea Gonzalez at No. 2, Juliana Martinez at No. 3 and Giovanna Patrocinio at No. 6.

Gonzalez had the key victory in singles, rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 victory over Mount Olive’s Valeria Guerrero.

In the men’s match, the Trojans eked out a 4-3 win over the host Jaguars (4-3).

Mount Olive won all three doubles matches and singles at Nos. 3, 4 and 6.

Singles winners for Augusta were Enzo Garutti at No. 1, Quentin Cano Perez at No. 2 and Elie Azoulay at No. 5.

The Jaguar men will play at Francis Marion on Sunday, Feb. 18. First serve is at 1 p.m.
