AU senior reflects on time as a Jaguar

As graduation rapidly approaches, seniors all over Augusta University cannot wait to walk the stage. AU senior, Cynthia Baruch-Rosas, is no exception to the anticipation of graduation.
Baruch-Rosas began her college journey as a nursing student, then switched over to education. She later realized that teaching was not for her and had a moment of panic. If neither nursing nor education was for her then what is?
After doing research on different majors that AU has to offer, she learned about Communications. She saw all the variety the department has to offer and fell in love.
“It’s so engaging and I love it because they teach you how to wear all these different hats.” said Baruch-Rosas.
Throughout her time as a Comm major Baruch-Rosas has been able to do some amazing things, including winning a statewide PSA through the Georgia Cancer Center for awareness of the harmful effects of smoking. Each class has taught her something different about herself that she may not have known before. Through a campaigns class, Baruch-Rosas learned that she enjoys organizing events.
Baruch-Rosas says that internships have helped her the most to figure out career goals. She has done three separate internships which have guided her future choices and helped her know what she does and does not enjoy.
Baruch-Rosas is also a part of Alpha Chi Omega and says that it has truly changed her as a person. Being a commuter, she was able to meet people that she otherwise would have never met. Greek life helped her find connections amid of the chaos of school. Leadership positions have also expanded her resume and taught her new skills.
To those who are still figuring out what they are doing through college, Baruch-Rosas offers some advice:
“Just be patient with yourself, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed throughout college so it is important be easy on yourself, said Baruch-Rosas. “Continue to learn new things and put yourself out there because you never know the people you may meet or the opportunities you may discover.”
